Things To Do

Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST)

Taylor Creek RV Resort has direct access to the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST) a 110-mile paved and gravel path around Lake Okeechobee (second largest freshwater lake in the U.S.).  The path circles the lake on top of the 35-foot Herbert Hooker Dike, built in the 1930’s for flood control.  With no motorized vehicles allowed, the trail provides for a serene experience with incredible visa views and excellent sunrises and sunsets, biking, hiking, fishing and plenty chances to view incredible birds, gators and wildlife.

With direct access from the park, guest can walk, hike or bike the northern portion of the trail to Lake Okeechobee North Pier, which includes a fishing pier, restrooms, parking and plenty of spots to picnic.  Of course, you can also drive to this stop via Hwy. 441.

Currently, the trail is open between Taylor Creek RV Resort and Lake Okeechobee North Pier, but there are several closures affecting other portions of the trail.

See the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers website (link below) or call (863) 983-8101 for the latest information on closures.
